I was just wondering if anyone here ever gave their gliders dandelions or lilacs as occasional treats? What about other edible flowers occasionally?

Thank you so much!

I know a lot of flowers are people friendly but that doesn't mean they are necessarily glider friendly! Thanks for the info!

mine got their first dandelions of the season today :) and their first hibiscus bloom of the year last week.
I am going to grow them some pansy's too so I know they won't have any chemicals used on them.

edit: pansy's are not one of the "safe" flowers on the list in the link above...more research I guess...

You can feed roses too. Ones you grow would be best. I hear they like rosehips (whats left after the petals fall off). Mine didn't want roses but they tore up the hibiscus. Pansies I'm pretty sure are safe. I know I've seen them packaged for human consumption in markets as well.

@ Omis n Kais g-ma...yeah..I was looking over that list again and there are things on there that I had researched before that were on a safe list and some she says are safe were on the other list as unsafe.

I was looking at pansy's because they are the most common edible flower(for human consumption).
I ordered dried rose hips for them and do they like those.

Mine love lilacs. They went to town. Good thing I have a huge lilac bush. Waiting for the honeysuckle to bloom. Our weather had been so screwy that the flowers are all messed up.

yep, it snowed here today, It's been the strangest spring I have ever seen. Our grass just started greening up this week and my first 2 dandelions bloomed today where I would have already had them 3 weeks ago.

My lilacs might be a while...the trees just budded here 2 days ago

That is what made me question it. My lilac bush is in full bloom! I am going to give them a bit tomorrow.

Mine only eat the inside of hibiscus. I'm thinking its the pollen.

Are crab apples considered the same as apples (for flower eating purposes)?

I can't wait for my lilacs to bloom. :)

For the hibiscus flowers mine devour the petals, sometimes I take the petals off and there is gooey sticky stuff and that's their favorite part, one of them does love the stem in the middle with the pollen balls.
