I noticed that our Joey officially came OOP tonight *yay! *

Now the bad news. I saw mom and her belly is of course back to normal but i saw a little bit of pink around her pouch...is everything okay? The nearest vet is an hour away and i'm DEFINITELY okay with taking her! But i want to make sure it's not something that's supposed to be there...I feel a little sick I did research and i found out their pouch can get infected and can someone please calm my nerves?

Can I you describe the pink you are seeing s little better? Does it look like flecks of blood or is her fur pink? When s momma has joeys shoving their heads in and out of there to nurse all the time, it's very common for the edges of the pouch to turn out a little bit as it gets stretched around. The inside if her pouch is mucous membrane and should look a nice healthy pink color (like the inside of your nose or mouth). If it looks red or angry and inflamed and certainly if you see any bleeding, then vet ASAP. Most of the time when they get a pouch infection, you will see ichy, discolored (yellow, purulent, smelly, and just all around ick).

I forgot to add (though hopefully I don't really have to). Discharge and discolored pouch also = vet ASAP!

I talked to my local breeder and she let me know the same thing behold nursing her pouch just stretched out a little bit. Thank you so much! :)

Yep, one of the joys of motherhood! Don't worry, she'll get her shapely figure back once that pesky kid is grown
