Hello I am new to this site. I have two gliders, one is male and the other is female. My female gave birth on march 14th and she is huge at this point. I am a first time breeder so I am curious to know when you guys think she may have the joey's o.o.p. (if it is possible can you give me a date?) Also, is there any helpful information you guys can share with me about the joey's so I am fully prepared for their arrival? Thank you

@morganwelch gliders stay in pouch for 8-9 weeks. It looks like thursday(May 9) was eight weeks,so I would think this thursday(May 16th) they should be oop. Is this her first litter because it sometimes can be longer if its her first since they like to hoard their little munchkins.
This is her third litter but it is her first one with me being her owner. I have had some people tell me that it will be 9 weeks, and others are saying it will be ten weeks so I have no clue :/ so far there has been no limbs hanging out from her pouch that I have seen though
Like I said to you before, they will come out when they are ready to come out. Some moms are known to keep theirs in a little longer than others. Just be patient, you should be prepared for their arrival before you even begin breeding. If you want to use google as a research tool, I would suggest looking at information from Australian origin, as marsupial breeding in the US is a relatively new practice.
It's hard to tell from your pictures for certain, but to me she does look as if it is possible that she is not carrying joeys born on march 14. How long has she been in you possession? Did you physically witness the birth? She appears to be a petite little girl, what diet are you feeding her and is she eating well?
I have had her for over a year now. i have her on the HPW diet and she eats like a pig. I did witness the birth on march 14th, but even at that point she could have canabolized those ones and these babies may be a different set. She was just sitting in my bra and holding her pouch open and cleaning it and I saw a little limb that was very pink, but it was very tiny and did not look like a joey that was ready to come out just yet. I am thinking that maybe these ones were not born on march 14th after all, but she does look like she should be due pretty soon.
Like I said, it's hard to tell from pictures, but if I had to guess, I would say you are still a few weeks out. Once you see tails and arms, it's usually about 10 days, unless she's one that likes to hold them in until the last minute.
aright, either way I know there are joeys that will be arriving at some point so I am still excited. Thank you so much for your input I really appreciate it!
Aw,she's a cutie. If you are worried about her developing, you can also add a little bit of milk replacer to her dinner a few nights a week. It will help make sure she is producing enough milk for the twins without leaching too much nutrition for herself.
Alright it can't hurt to do that just in case! she is a sweetheart and she will be an amazing mommy! and our boy is such a good daddy already. he always checks on the joeys and lets mommy eat first. Its amazing to see their relationship growing
I don't think you will have to register to see it, but you may want to anyway. It's another very good forum that focuses mainly on medical issues for gliders.
yes, my male used to be super protective over food but once she gave birth he always has her eat first and never fights with her its amazing. thank a bunch I will have to take a look at it
