In a couple of weeks we will be introducing our gliders, and we want to build them a huge new cage. I don't really know what kind of mesh to use, or where to get it.

Also, we are going to build a couple of wheels. We have some leftover gutter guard. Do you think that the gutter guard is strong enough to be used as the track?

Hardware cloth mesh is what you will want to use for the cage it self, as for the wheel I am not sure. I have seen so many different one's that have been built I am not sure what they are made from.

I used PVC 1/2 on pipe...zip ties.....nuts and bolts.....locks.....and plastic hardware mesh!!!! It's pretty strong I have chewers and they have not chewed it at all.....they have lots of toys to keep them engaged....
Ace hardware and Home Depot.....I was told lowed is cheap in some supplies but its too far of a drive for me since ace was right down the street....and Home Depot was only ten minutes away......I kept it around 120 or less

That's awesome! We have a chewer, and I am super worried about her chewing through the plastic. Hopefully, we can find something sturdy.

Do not go with the PVC coated wire most of the wire is galvanized and zinc coated and that is poisonous to gliders...that's why I went with the plastic....I think you would be fine as long as you have lots of toys and wheels to occupy her

Did you find a way to buy the mesh in bulk? It looks like it can get really pricey if you buy it from the hardware store.

I had mesh left over and PVC and bolts and nuts and zip ties (not a bunch, just scraps) I spent about 180 but I bought the PVC at ace, which was a lot more than Home Depot since I have a tiny car and couldn't drive far with it ace is only a block from me. And I had to buy PVC cutters and a drill. So if you only need supplies you shouldn't spend more than 100/120

I got a cheap pair of cutters at homedepot and they work really good!!!! Like 13$. Oh and use a zip tie machine thing or pliers to tighten them....I heard they will leave you blisters if you try to pull them all

That is a very useful tip! We modified a dog cage once, and it only took like 30 or so zip ties to secure the mesh. I would have never thought of that.

I used a ton of zip ties probably over 1000 and some. I bought a pack of medium 1000 and another pack of 800 with various sizes

I used this exact mesh (plastic NO COATED WIRE at all).... Error, missing URL. /
