I rarely take mine out of the cage because A) they shoot down my shirt or B) run under my furniture. Mine love chasing feathers and paper across their cage bars. Feather teasers are fun. Just be sure there is no catnip in it. You can lace straws through their cage bars and see if they can get them out. Or hang a long strip of fleece in the cage and loosely tie it in a knot at the end hanging in the cage. They will go nuts getting it untied but they will figure it out eventually. Wiffle balls with fleece poked into the holes is a fun, they pull out and throw...you pick up and stuff back in.
