Hey guys, so I just had the girls out, and Soleil had diarrhea on my shirt. I don't mean mushy poop, I mean a brown LIQUID. It was just a TINY little bit. Probably not even a penny-sized amount. I know diarrhea can easily lead to dehydration. This is the first time I've ever seen anything like this. I immediately did the tent test to both girls (although I haven't seen anything but solid stools from Luna), and they are fine. Skin went right back down.

I feed OHPW. Tonight we had frozen papaya and fresh carrots. Last night we had baby tomatoes and bok choy. Tomatoes have citrus, and I was wondering if maybe that upset her tummy? But why am I just now seeing the effects, if that's the case? And we've had cherry tomatoes before, as well as oranges (a lot, they really like them), and I've never seen this before. I have some canned pumpkin, and if I see any more of this, I'll likely offer that tomorrow night (I've heard it can help their tummies). We haven't had yogurt all week. Maybe I'll go grab some. I don't even know if that would help, but they love yogurt, and they haven't had it in at least a week.

So these are my concerns/questions. What caused this? The worried Mom in me wants to call the vet this instant (but they're closed). We can totally make an appointment tomorrow asap. However, I'm currently SUPER broke and worried about rent. Yes, I obviously have an emergency vet fund, but I've also never used it. And if this is a minor thing they really don't need to see a vet for, then I'd rather not dip into their savings. I am definitely at least calling in the morning and asking them about it. The worrying part of me feels this calls for a round of fecals. What do y'all think? Should I go ahead and get them an appointment? I don't even really know if this is a big deal or not. Also, how seriously concerned should I be about dehydration? Other than the tent test, is there anything I can do to check if they're dehydrated? I haven't seen either of them drinking tonight, but I haven't been in the room for most of the evening, so they very likely have had water when I wasn't around. The bottle is full, as always.

All help and advice is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance, guys!

Found more of it in the cage... I stored some. I've changed my mind. We're totally going to the vet now. I need fecals to feel better about this. Terry pointed out that this could easily be a parasite, and if that's the case, they'll both need to be treated. Yay! Too much stress. I'm heading to bed so I can get up early and call the vet.

Penny had diarrhea a few days ago but it was because I gave them coconut oil and avocado (I'm guessing anyway). It cleared up in a day. Good luck and keep us posted!!

Alright, so I did the tent test again, and both are fine. I just collected stool samples. This morning everyone has very orange poop (we had papaya and carrots last night) which is quite mushy, but not something I would classify as diahrrea. I called the vet. They sounded really busy, but the receptionist said they could squeeze me in at 2:50pm today. I'm hoping that I go in, drop $100 on two exams and fecals for both of them, and find nothing, and that I see no more of this diahrrea. We've been due for a checkup anyway. I'll bring the list of consult vets with me, just in case. And I have poop from both girls, as well as some of the diahrrea I found on the cage floor. Is there anything I'm forgetting?

Anyway, I'll post again later and let y'all know what the vet says. Hopefully I'm just worrying more than is necessary and this is nothing.

Hopefully all goes well with the vet. I think at this point you'll need the fecals done just to have peace of mind, if nothing else. And if it is something, you definitely want to catch it now, while they are seeming so NORMAL. Cause once they start acting sick, it is sometimes too late.

Good luck and keep us posted.
