This is my first batch of original hpw, and I feel that it freezes strange. The top part freezes to an ice cream consistency but below that layer it seems more liquidy. Also, when I have it in my suggie's bowls it melts awful fast. I am used to Judie's BML and the regular BML, which doesn't melt that fast nor does it freeze the way I described.
Here is a pic for reference:

It may seem trivial, but I don't want a small problem like this translate to my doing something wrong and my gliders would be in some sort of danger. o.O

Check the temperature for your freezer's they could be set wrong so things are freezing properly or melt a little faster.

or is it because i freeze it in a large container, maybe some of it separates before it gets frozen

You can freeze it in ice cube trays...freezes better. Also the more honey you add the less it freezes. I usually keep out a little bit of honey and I find that it freezes better

With the next batch you might try blending a bit longer to make sure the honey is mixed well with the other ingredients.

Freezing in ice cube trays allows it to freeze more quickly so there is little if any separation - and it is very easy to serve by just popping out a cube. If you measure your cubes you will know if you need one cube per glider or if each cube will feed two gliders.

That's what mine looks like too. The last batch I made I let melt partially then re-blended it to a better consistency. Since it was like soft ice cream after blending it froze into a more uniform slush. I figured it would work out better in ice cube trays but that isn't too convenient. Maybe several smaller containers would work better too.

Honey wasnt mixed in long enough as its still really seperated.... I always completely dissolve mine in the warm water portion (stir stir stir) and THEN add it to my blender and blend it for longer than I think it needs to be. And Yes, the more honey added the more soft the entire mixture will be.. You are used to the hard freeze diets LOL

This makes me wonder even more about the powdered honey used in the 'instant' type glider diets. If powdered honey retains all of the properties of natural honey, why do these mixtures freeze ice hard instead of having the ice cream like texture of Original HPW?

This is really comical to me. When I tried Original HPW it froze solid and I had to chisel chunks out. Eventually I used ice cube trays so I wouldn't end up with a solid ice block then moved on to LGRS.
