Can I keep my gliders in my room and still be able to sleep? I may do it over the summer and see how it goes. The new cage won't fit trough my bedroom door so will have to be assemble in there.

I will soon be getting a raptor wheel. Cage was first.

I don't know if your a light or heavy sleeper but I can usually sleep thru anything and my gang has made enough racket from the living room that I could hear them upstairs in my bed room with air conditioner running.

It really depends on how noisey the toys are you give them to play with in their cage, I do have a barker and She does occasionally wake me up with that.

If you assemble your cage in your room, you won't be able to get it out without having to dis-assemble it if you wanted to do a deep cleaning or even change what room you want to keep them in.

I will say that budgets are made to be broken...I spent a ton when I was first setting up everything. plus you can plan for everything and still manage to need "one more thing"...or ten things...then comes the toy shopping, the food shopping...it never ends really!

For the first two years or so I kept my gliders in my room. It didn't take long before I was able to sleep through every thing they did, except when they started getting in big fights. For some reason, corn was THAT important to them and they would get in altercations that made me worry they would get seriously hurt, even though they never did. I was able to deal with it for a while until it became a very frequent noise. At that point, I experienced a night where I was almost driven literally crazy because I was so exhausted and they just wouldn't let me sleep. I actually wished I had never gotten them that night. So I shoved them into the hallway, slammed my door shut and finally regained my sanity. After that I kept them out of my room because I needed my sleep. Now I keep them in the dining room/living room because it helps me remember to give them attention, and I can get my sleep, though I am considering moving them back to my room to give them more peace and because they don't fight any more.

I keep mine in the living room / kitchen which is right next to our room....I sleep just fine...my fiancé says they bark a lot at night so he closes the door.... But for the most part their fine...

As for budget...your going to want at LEAST one wheel for each pair....if they are like some they may each want their own wheel...I make my batches of food every week (which should last a month or just over a month for 1 or two) plus mealworms plus 'snacks' and bottled water....

If you want a good breeding pair that's paired with low coi and great lineage your budget might be broken quite a bit....getting good lineage is important (not sure what colors your wanting but some are 8/900 each up to 1000+)

As for a decent sized cage you can get very good ones on eBay and amazon...I had three then I built a huge one and I'm in the process of making another(taking my time this time)

If you make it a slow process like starting with your pet only gliders for a year to learn you can always expand your glider family later when you have more hands in experience

I have 4 In my room and it all depends on the night sometimes I can sleep just fine other times they drive me nuts but I don't have a choice I don't have my own house I have 3 months till I have the down payment for my place but ill tell you what when I get that house they will not be in my room when I only had 1 in there it was fine I was never woken up and I'm a light sleeper

And extra cages are something you will need to have around when breeding for various reasons. It's always a good idea for anyone to have an emergency or "hospital" type cage for the occasion when you need to separate for medical reasons, etc., but in breeding you need them for other reasons as well. It's good to have a spare room available so that you can separate pairs during mating on occasion and have dad go spend a few nights on the couch while mom catches a break. You will have to learn to be very in tune with your girls' cycles, but it's a good way to prevent over breeding and taxing of the female. You'll also want enough room to separate joeys once they've matured if you have to. You don't ever want to get into the situation where you're pressed to just find homes for joeys because they need to leave the parents and they have nowhere to go.
