How do I disinfect the new cage when I get it home? Bleach isn't safe is it?

yes, bleach is ok if you rinse it really well and can let the cage air dry in the sun.

You can also mix a solution of 50/50 vinegar and hot water will work too.

Can I then let it dry and stick them in there if I use vinegar?

If you use the 50/50 water/vinegar solution, once it has air dried it is OK for them to get back in.
