Trimming the nails is not particularly fun, but it's a necessity of owning gliders unless you have a vet that does it cheeap. Ours costs about $80 per glider, so we cut them ourselves. I think it's more stressful on us than the girls, worrying about are we pulling their little legs too hard, are we going to break a little limb. But they are pretty good about it. They don't really like it and bite hard and squirm.
The thing to do is hold them in a piece of fleece (one with their smell on it) and cover the head. I can't stress that enough because they (at least ours will) bite any opportunity they can.
It also helps to watch a few videos on youtube about nail trimming. Lucky Glider Rescue has a good one. Make sure you don't watch any from ASGV because they are paid by Pocket Pets and therefore are full of misinformation.
Someone on Artjoy.com also has a nail trimming kit complete with trimmers and a little mesh thing to hold them in. Some people swear by that.
