New glider; bad teeth?

I just got a new sugar glider a couple days ago and noticed her teeth do not look quite right...they stick out more noticeably and have a gap between the two top teeth. I am hoping this photo shows it enough she's new to me and really did not want to stay still for pics...her appetite seems ok, and doesn't act like she's in pain. She is older (8 years), is this something that stemmed from an old abscess or injury, or something that happens with age? Is this something I should be concerned about now?

potential abscess, I would take her into the vet n see if the teeth need pulled or the abscess drained. Ask the vet to do dental xrays.

I would Also replace the sock with a fleece pouch so her nails don't get snagged

it's not something that just happens with age, their teeth only spread like that if there is either an abscess or injury to the mouth bones. Only an xray will determine which it is.

Any black on the teeth especially near the gum line means the teeth are rotten n will need pulled, I can't see any black on the teeth showing in the pic but sometimes you won't see it depending on the angle.

Ok. I bought her from the Pet Glider and never had problems from any others I have gotten from them before. I only used the washcloth to hold so I could get the pic, I was trying not to get bit. I will take her to get seen tomorrow. Thank you!

I do the same with a washcloth. It's the perfect size to hold them secure and avoid getting bitten. One time my little girl was so content wrapped inside that I put her back in her cage still wrapped in the washcloth. So thanks for the reminder about snagging, Leela.

Good luck tomorrow, cmarie. Please keep us posted.
