I was sitting with my 7 y/o glider Djubi when I noticed something that looked like food caught between her bottom teeth. I touched it very lightly and the piece came off but her gums started to bleed and it looks like there's still some kind of plaque type stuff around her bottom teeth.

I'll attempt to get a picture of her teeth if I can

I'm going to take her to the vet tommorow but I was just curious if anyone here had ever seen something similar with their glider.

I'm actually dealing with something similar myself right now, except mine has a joey in pouch on top of the dental issues.

The other day I noticed Cocoa's tooth gap that she has always had on her front teeth has gotten considerable bigger. Upon a closer inspection of her mouth she also has tarter or plaque built up on her teeth. I've been monitoring her teeth for a couple months now but in the last couple weeks the gap spread pretty quickly.

She is currently on clavamox to address possible infection/abscess for the next two weeks. Once the medicine course is done we will go back to the vet to see if she needs tooth extractions or not.

Once the joey comes out of pouch Cocoa will be getting a teeth cleaning at the vets but she will need put under anesthesia for that so the vet wants to want till the joey is out
I was also informed today to provide some live safe tree branches in Cocoa's cage, this will aid in tooth cleaning they strip the bark down with their teeth and kind of use it as floss to clean the teeth and in between them as well.

Dental issues and abscesses are not uncommon for gliders, especially older gliders.

Signs to look for include teeth spreading, loose teeth, swollen eyes, puffy face, belly fur turning tan or brown. These symptoms are NOT always present or visible but are clear indicators of dental issues if you do see them.

Hers is definitely not as severe but it looks like she has the same problem. She's doesn't have any of the yellow plaque and her teeth arent spread apart but she definitaly has the white build up around the baseball of her bottom front teeth.

I could definitaly get her a eucalyptus branch. Since hers isn't so severe I may opt to go with getting her a branch and seeing how her teeth look after she's had it for a few days.

I have the same issues with older a glider I have taken in.
I have been cleaning the teeth and gum area gently with q-tip dipped in a mixture of bottle water and a drop of proxide (very little. squeezed out excess water.
Along with round zydaclin (a very small dose) as needed. It has taken a while but the
plaque seems to be coming off in small bits. I do not clean every day more like a week on and a week off. He does get extra treats and attention because after a couple days of cleaning he crabs when he hears me coming.
Use caution as if the bottom lip pullout to far it my pull at the gum line and bleed.
It may anyway at first depending on the severity of the problem at the gum line.
