My sugar glider keeps sneezing and rubbing his nose. He also appears to be sniffing the air. He stops when me and him leave the room. What could this be? Also is this wheel safe?

From your description it sounds like your sugar glider is grooming itself. It's completely normal.

that looks like it has a center spoke in the wheel.
if it does have this center piece then it is NOT safe.

is it possible to make this wheel safe?

What kind of wheel is it? Personally, I wouldn't want to modify a wheel that may be currently unsafe. I'd rather start with a new, glider-safe wheel. Stealth and Raptor are really good ones. I (and my gliders) have been very happy with the silent runner wheel from exotic nutrition.
