Hello, I was wondering, is it better to feed my gliders on the floor of their cage in a flat tray type thing or is it fine to use a bird feeder on the side of the cage?
Ever since I changed my gliders cage I have been feeding them in a bird feeder hung to the side of the cage. (The cage came with six feeders, I only use two for the gliders).
Should I go back to feeding them on the floor? Their joey will be exploring the cage and the foods within a week or two as well. Will he be able to eat out of the bird feeder? Thank you :)
I use a glider kitchen on the floor of the cage with a food dish. I'm sure the joey will follow their parents wherever they go to eat and their sense of smell would lead them right to it. I prefer having the kitchen on the floor so whatever the drop or throw out will go into the litter tray under the floor cage. They usually take a piece of their salad out of the tray and eat it on the bottom of the cage. More consistent place for them to discard the fruit/veggies left overs than on the sides of the cage, etc. These are the things I use:
We just buy a LARGE tupperware style container, cut two holes and put it upside down. Keeps them from throwing food all over the place most of the time.
