I’ve had two male sugar gliders for a year now, one neutered and one still intact. Recently my intact male has been cleaning his private areas a lot when he wakes up. It usually follows shortly after that he tries to mate with his brother so I thought maybe he’s just being a male and doing his adult male thing. But it’s gone on every night like this. He doesn’t hiss when he pees or appears to be in any pain, and I’ve checked for over grooming or any redness/swollenness in or around his cloaca and it looks totally fine. I do catch his genitalia out though when I check on him after he’s just waking up and started to clean it. Is he sick or just really “needy”?
