I made the mistake of buying a sugar glider from pocketpets, while he is fine, happy and healthy, and I have switched his diet over, he is a lone glider. I live in MA (gliders were just legalized) and go to college in Vermont (I have a special permit to have them at school). But my glider is a lone glider, and that simply will not do! The problem is that I'm a broke college student, and I can't afford to spend hundreds of dollars on a secondary sugar glider and a new cage. (I still only have the starter cage from pocketpets) Any solutions?

Definitely make sure the cage is large enough for them both. But I found my baby on Craigslist. You may have to do a bit of driving though, but I think it's worth it. Also look and see if there are any rescues near by! I wish I could've gone to one but they only had pairs :( and if you are looking for a standard glider they are usually anywhere from $100-200 from a breeder and usually that much for a standard colored and they usually come with many extras from sellers on Craigslist or hoobly or sites like that. But good luck! It took me near a month to find one and she's still 3:30 hours away! Keep looking!

Search, search, search. Craigslist is actually great for that. You can sometimes find a glider that comes with a good sized cage. For just a glider, you can find one for 80-100 cheapest if you look for it, and you might have a drive awhile. Look for rescues. Just google it, there's a few sites that may have some. I don't know how little you can spend, but there's this great cage on sale on exotic nutrition's website for $169. It's the Madagascar cage and everyone who uses it loves it. The cage lasts their whole life really and that would be big enough for two or more so if you can afford that, it's a good idea. But if your glider seems happy you don't have to jump at the first glider you find that's cheap. See if you can find one that comes with a cage- make sure it's actually good sized, or else it isn't worth it. Then you can offer to pay less for JUST the glider, and go get your own cage. Good luck!! (Exotic Nutrition also has a 10% off coupon right now that expires the 25th. I can send you the code. The cage is on sale and there's 10% off additionally. So that would be a really good thing if you can do it!)

That would be amazing! Thank you. The other thing I was considering was making a cage. But while I was looking for materials to use I discovered that pvc coated wire is bad the cage my baby is in from pocket pets was recalled, and they didn't even tell me! Obviously I need to get him out of there asap, but do you think they'll replace my cage? What materials are safe if I make one?

PVC and landscaping mesh are the most common elements I've seen used by those who make their own cages. There are some amazing ones and they are relatively inexpensive depending on the size and design. I think you could do a basic search on the tab above and find some great ideas. Folks have posted some detailed plans as well as just getting ideas from others photos. Good luck!

I found some at Home Depot yesterday. Green pcc coated wire mesh
It was$12 / roll.
There are some step by step instructions on this site to DIY Build your own cage I think it was about$80 to build it and it's really big.
You can probably just get one roll and add on to your cage. I'm thinking about doing that myself. I have one sugar glider now but I'm getting 2 females today then another baby male Wednesday. I'm going to put the cages together
Gotta get creative.... But safety first. Good luck. If I see any for sale in your area I'll let you know. Add me as friend. I'm new to this forum

Good luck

PVC Coated wire may not be the best choice for your glider cage.

Some PVC coated wire made by Riverdale may be toxic to sugar gliders.
