This could go in the med section too...

I know some things, like mint, garlic and onion are toxic to some animals not others.

I keep the mint away from the gliders. But was wondering about my rosemary and time and oregano? Are these herbs toxic to glider too?

AND - next time you buy boc choy for them, cut off the end, put it in a bowl of water in the window and wa-la - fresh growing boc choy year around :) Been doing this going on the 2nd year now. And it freezes so well - the leaves don't even stick together. Nice to have a large baggie of fresh/frozen boc choy in the freezer when it comes time to make their frozen veggie mix without having to go to "the expensive store" to get it, and nice being able to pick fresh leave for them at whim :)

I am not sure about all herbs, but I have fed my gliders fresh oregano and parsley and they love them.

Oregano is supposed to help prevent Giardia (a parasite). When I had a rescue glider in quarantine being treated for giardia - I fed her and all my other gliders oregano at least once a week. I have not had any fresh oregano from the garden since I moved - need to replant the herb garden here I guess.

My gliders also like fresh parsley.

Most common mints for humans are ok like peppermint, spearmint and pineapple mint. Just don't overload them with it. Two to avoid are catnip and catmint because they are toxic to gliders.

Onions, chives, garlic are also toxic to gliders.

I usually give mine parsley, basil & mint now n then, my girl loves fresh leafy things as well as fresh flowers. She shows no shame when I give her a squash blossom or hibiscus flowers lol she buries her whole head in the flowers. My male doesn't care for them much yet I don't think he quite knows what to do with them lol

I grow parsley in the windows as well, but they do the same thing with it as the guys... leave it on the plate. lol

I'll give them some oregano then, am anxious to see how they like it :)

I do grow flowers for them. I even put the entire plant in a few weeks ago to see if they'd like to play in the dirt. Nope. They all clung to the opposite side of the cage, then slinked around to the glider treadmill and started running.

Our girls love mint and cilantro, but parsley is still questionable. I have a chocolate mint plant outside, would that be okay? I tend to think not, but I just wanted to get a few other opinions.

Should be ok, the name chocolate mint is primarily because of the leaf color and smell, there isn't any actual chocolate content in the plant. All types of mint provide similar nutrition (from what i'v read ) I give mint as a treat so they don't get that much maybe a couple small leaves, I wouldn't substitute it for their normal veg portion.
