Meet my new baby, Ayla! She finally came out last night to explore her new home. She is so little; already love her to pieces!!
Anybody ever have new baby that hasn't crabbed? She hasn't crabbed at me, is already jumping on my hand and licking my fingers and I've had her for 3 days!!

Awww cute but why the dog biscuit? Sometimes they just don't crab, I would guess the breeder spent some time socializing her

She is a little cutie! Very sweet that she isn't crabby. I've had some over the top crabbers and some not.

Yes, the dog biscuit and bowl of water (dangerous!) are curious. She should have water in some type of water bottle. Looks like you've got a nice powder coated cage, there. Looks like the same finish that's used on the the preferred brands. I haven't seen any of those come with the square patterned shelves...mine are just the rungs like the cage material. I end up not using them all that often.

The breeder used a lid for their water; she said for her babies, as adults and as they learn they go to water bottles. I do have water bottle, just not in cage yet. And breeder gave me that biscuit and said it was in her cage with her so I just put it in there with her at my house. She hasn't touched it tho.
My cage is the exact same as the Brisbane cage from Exotic Nutrition, just a knock-off brand name and came with 2 of these shelves. I only use one in the cage tho.
Charger is in his new PVC pipe cage we made him and she will be in the big one too when the time comes!

Well welcome Ayla, you are such a cutie and so nice and sweet.

That is an interesting shelf, btw.

Have you thought of water silos? They are easier to clean than bottles anyway and they have a small bowl, so she can safely drink from it. I use the small one of this type, and would not want to go back to bottles.

Clean Water Silo

She may not be a crabby baby because she was probably handled and socialized well in combination with a good, friendly personality.

Thank you - yes, she is very cute & little! She is very sweet and very, very different than my boy, Charger!

We just recently got a water silo, the only thing I don't like about it is the bottle slides easily in the bottle holder.

The water silo is designed to be attached OUTSIDE the cage with only the small trough inserted through the cage bars. The trough can be positioned at a cross bar to keep the silo from sliding down in the holder.

the dispenser trough on this silo does not fit between the bars on a brisbane cage for the bottle to be on the outside.

Thanks for the pic to show how it works. I like it! My big cage is PVC pipe/mesh cage so I wonder if it will work on that cage. I will still get it this weekend to see how I can MAKE it work in both cages!

I actually was just talking about these on another forum and posted pics of my Lulu drinking the nectar portion of the diet.

Here you can see better how it's mounted on the cage. I can take the silo on and off without even opening the cage door.

Here is what it looks like from inside

The water silo is on the other side of the cage. I originally purchased green ones, because the cage was mostly in green. Then I decided to color-code the silos after I decided to serve the HPW in one. Yes, crazy, I know. I have yellow silos for the HPW and blue silos for the water. I went a little crazier than that and ended up with three of each color. Two yellows to alternate HPW, and two blues to alternate water, and an a extra set for travel. I change the mountings out on cage cleaning day. The green ones are just being stored as spares, lol.

I got them either at PetSmart or Petco, I don't remember, maybe some at both, they both sell that brand. They can also be purchased online.

Hm, I will have to look for one like that, I don't like how this one bends the bars

That style mounting may work well for horizontal barred cages though. But I really like the ones I have, I wouldn't go back to bottles unless I really had to.

actually, it's not ideal with horizontal barred cages , gliders tend to slide it left and right, and doing so, either it empties it because it is not vertical anymore, either it falls alltogether

Thanks for the pics. I love them. I can get it to work for Ayla's cage for now but when she moves to big cage, I'll have to see how I can get it to work; maybe have to hang extra pipe to mount to or something. We'll see!
On another note....Ayla has coconut in her cage and past 2 nights she's been sleeping in it! It is the funniest and cutiest thing. Charger won't go inside his but she loves hers!
She is just a bundle of joy, so curious & just so sweet!
