I just noticed tonight that my little babies are just starting to get their nails caught. I have been reading and watching videos on trimming the nails. I also find it pointless to go to a vet when I am able to do it myself. If I can spend 8 hours cutting my son's nails cause he absolutely hates sitting still for half a minute then I have the patience to take my time with the gliders. I have been playing with their little toes and they are at the point they don't seem to mind. I have everything lined up and ready to go in the morning cause I know it's best when they are sleepy. So I guess I should get to the question...does anybody have any tips or tricks they use to make nail trimming easy on them?

Well, you've seen the videos, so that's a good start. Going slow and calmly, which it sounds like you're capable of doing with your son! They don't have to all get done at once if it gets dicey. Keep some corn starch (tiny bit) in a little bowl just in case you catch the vein. It does happen and the corn starch will help staunch the tiny bit of blood. They seem to get over it faster than we do. It's happened to me twice, but that's over a few years.

I agree with Blue and Sounds like your pretty prepared already One thing I do now is I show the glider the clippers, let them smell them, touch them lick whatever.... before I start clipping so they know what I'm about to use on them. For me it helps the ones that don't like their nails being clipped so much. Like Blue said be calm and confident and if you can't do them all in one sitting that is just fine.

If the glider starts showing signs of stress just stop for the time being If there are certain nails getting stuck try clip those first so the problem nails aren't being left till the next round of trimming.

Didn't go as planned and got to the point neither wanted to stop squirming so I didn't achieve. I didn't want to stress them out or hurt one. I put them back in the cage gave them a little treat and decided that a vet may just be the best bet for me. Planning on taking them this evening that way they get time to recover from me messing with them. I never realized how strong they were til today as I was trying my hardest to secure them. I think my biggest issue is that I don't want to hurt or scare them to much. At least the vet knows what he is doing and can get it done cause I am sure his heart won't break as trying to keep them still like mine was. Maybe I'm just to much of a softy for this task.
