I finally got a new cage for Sebastian. I posted awhile ago about this. I received the cage over a week ago, but the back panel was busted. I've been waiting on a replacement panel. It was a beast to put together alone, but I finally got it done. It's considerably taller than me! I had to use a step stool just to hang everything in his cage. Zip tied the side doors, bottom grate, and the cage itself to the rolling base to avoid tip overs.

And through all of this... my sleepyhead didn't wake up once. He's going to get up later tonight and look around like "What the....??!"

I've scheduled a vacation in late August to get him neutered. After that, it'll be time to try to find him a friend.

At first Sebastian woke up and just stared. He had no idea what to think:

After a few minutes he got brave enough to have a look around.

He kept looking around as if he was worried that he would be found in another glider's territory:

He ran to his dining room. Unlike his usual slow, leisurely munching... he grabbed a pea and ran with it. He hid in a corner and devoured it as fast as he could.

I did take a video of his first exploration. If everyone can withstand my nauseatingly silly commentary, I'll find a way to post it.

Aww Sebastian is such a cutiepie! I adore his ears in the third pic, he looks so curious but apprehensive at the same time, lol! Just wait until he figures out it's all his!

Post your vid! There's a lot if babytalking to gliders in this house, too. Sorta goes with the territory I think, these guys are too adorable to resist!

I don't know if the embedded link will work. If not, I've included a regular link as well.

It still amazes me that a few short months ago, he was a bitey, unsocialized rescue. When I first got him, I could feel the hollow space between each rib and I was so afraid to break him. Little Sebastian has really come a long way. He's put on weight and his tail has gotten fluffier. Which is a good thing, because I think he may have been too underweight to be neutered. By last night, he was rolling in the corners of the cage scenting it up and hopping happily in his wheel. He's a resilient little devil.

Annoying babytalk ahead. You've been warned.

Sebastian is adorable! He didn't know quite what to make of it all did he? And don't be ashamed of the baby talk, that's the way I talk to my babies too. I'm sure most here if not all do, lol. Thanks for sharing the video, I really enjoyed it.

Btw, which cage did you go with?

LOL at least I'm not alone.

It was this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extra-Large-3-Level-Ferret-Chinchilla-Sugar-Glider-Rat-WROUGHT-IRON-Cage-082/281762659750?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D32765%26meid%3Dac0491bb84964b20a5c62ad3bc9d8179%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D7%26sd%3D252013699817

I was not very happy with the seller. It shipped with nearly no protective packaging which is why the back panel had to be replaced. Sebastian seems happy with it though and that's all that counts.
