After several months of declining health, Bart began suffering from respiratory distress last night. He was breathing very rapidly and there was a clicking sound occasionally when he inhaled. He had not been eating or drinking well and I don't believe he slept at all overnight. We went to the vet this morning and did x-rays showing that there some swelling or tissue/mass physically pushing on his left lung and heart. He had lost 20g since his last visit in November. Honestly, he hung on way longer than I expected him to after the eye bleeding. I elected to put him to sleep as there was no real treatment and he appeared to be in distress.
Bart was a handsome and robust glider who loved yogurt covered raisins. He was missing all the toes on his back foot but he never let his disability hold him back. I love him and will miss him greatly.
