My husband and I let him roam free from time to time. We already knew the little guy was an escape artist so we always keep and eye on him. The last few times we let him out he kept trying to get under the door (and now has figured out he can actually fit). Today when we let him out there was a towel that had been kind of plugging the door up. Except I didn't put it all the back under when I walked into the room because my phone was ringing. There was very little room between the door and the towel tho and he stuck his head under, I heard him bark a little and then instantly pulled his had back in. He roller over on his back and couldn't make a sound. Started breathing really strangely. And then was trying to roll over I guess except I don't think he can pick his head up. I'm pretty sure his neck is broken. He's trying to do something but all that's coming out is a whining sound. Almost like a wheeze too. Idk I just have no idea what to do. Is this even something the vet can fix? Since he's so small? If there anything I can do at all?

Definitely take him to a vet. It is possible there is something that they can do to help him and if nothing else they can give him pain medication and help him breathe.it is possible the is a muscle related problem (pulled for example) that is causing him pain. It's amazing at what exotics vets can do on such small creatures.
In the worst case and they can't do anything to fix it (if it is indeed a broken neck) they can at least let him pass in peace and relieve him from pain and suffering. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though :-)

Raleecal, I'm so sorry for what you and your glider are going through. Thank you for sharing your story. Most importantly, to get advice and help for your glider; and also to let others know how dangerous this can be. Like you, I let my glider roam free occasionally. I've glider-proofed my den and it's fun to watch her run around. One day, I let her out before blocking the area under the door. She immediately made a run for it and slipped underneath, starting a search and rescue mission that lasted hours and took us everywhere in the house. At the time, I thought her crawling under the door was "cute". She is so independent and loves to explore. But oh my gosh I had no idea it could be so serious. Like JLR said, it's amazing what exotic vets can do. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. Wishing you the very best!

I'm sorry your glider is hurt. I hope he's ok. Do keep us posted.

For future reference you can try to block off the bottom of the door with an old wrapping paper roll.

That's what I do. I never have to worry about the door not being properly plugged. It's also nice for the nights I forget to properly close the cage door. They can't leave the room when I make stupid mistakes. Helps keep them a little bit safer.

Great idea. I just recycled a bunch of wrapping paper rolls, lol. Can't wait to try this, thanks.

You can also use the smaller water "noodles". I can cut them to the exact sizes that I need, and they're really inexpensive at Walmart.

Raleecal, how is your little one doing?

Another great idea, thanks! I was using towels for awhile but they're easy for gliders to slip through.
