Hello,

Something that I always wanted to say.

There are so many videos of people playing with their gliders in day light or in bright light when at home.

Is it really ok as long as the bears accept it, or is it just plain stupid from people who know nothing or just don't care ?

I never play with my babies when it's not dark in the room, and anyway they never show themselves until it's dark, so I guess that people on video just take them, light or not ?

Thank you for listening :-)

I really think that it's a personal preference for the gliders. My boys sometimes wake up during broad daylight and peek out at me so I give them a treat and a chin scratch. Chip will usually go back to sleep but sometimes Dale will come out of his pouch for a minute or 2. If I'm cleaning their cage in the afternoon then Dale gets nosy and has to come check it out. I think Chip just values his sleep more lol. Also they wake up at 8:30 p.m. every night and we do tent time in a screen tent. I usually have just the tv on but if my husband turns the lights on they will usually freeze for a minute then go right back to playing. The light doesn't bother them. I have heard that some gliders are really sensitive to light and will crab even from the tv light. I don't think it's cruel to have lights on and obviously light doesn't hurt mine or they would by come out during the day or would hide in my shirt when lights go on at night. Take your cues from your gliders and try not to judge others :-)

I think the difference can be home lighting can be much more mild then outdoor sunlight or even bright indoor light.
we have 2 small bulbs lighting the room, not every bright, then we put the dimmer down about time for the gliders to come out.

I have read the outdoor direct sunlight is what you really need to avoid but they do have sensitive eyes, so we always dim the lights or turn them off at night when they come out. we also have them out from time to time during the day for nail cutting or to say hello but they are only out for a short time.

One of my boys doesn't mind light too much. The other doesn't like it and will even wait for me to turn off the light in the next room over before coming out of the pouch. It really depends on the glider.

I personally don't take mine outside generally because a predator might get them and I worry sunlight will hurt their big eyes. The one that doesn't mind light sometimes does laps on me during the day when he gets excited about something and he's come out and done this in the daylight before. The other one needs near darkness to feel comfortable playing. So some gliders aren't as sensitive to light as others.

Well my sugar gliders don't mind the light that much, my one sugar glider Gizmo loves to play even when its light out side. try to not judge people like that though because everyone has different situations :)

Ok, I can accept that it depends on Gliders, but as in the wild they won't go out in daylight, I still consider people who force them to play in bright room to be criminals ! They like it or not, it's a fact, just like people who pretend to love animals but eat them ! Of course, I am a vegetarian, not a fake animal lover.
