Cheese can cause constipation. Plus it is very fattening. Even tho most gliders love it, it isnt good for them.

cottege cheese however, from what I understand, is a very nice treat for them as long as it's in moderation.

My gliders love cottage cheese. They get it a couple of times a month.

It's a good source of calcium, too.

I wouldn't. I generally just whip mine up with a wire whisk and pop them in the microwave for a few minutes. They turn out perfect like that!

I put a little cottage cheese in my eggs before I scramble them for my gliders. They love it but I only add just a little. About a teaspoon for TWO eggs. I cook them up in the microwave and then split the eggs between two cages of gliders. They eat the eggs all up.
It's funny because they won't eat the eggs without the cottage cheese in it and they won't eat the cottage cheese without it being cooked in the eggs. Funny little babies are so finicky. I feed them eggs about twice a week.

Mine love the cottage cheese as a treat and in moderation. Also it is important for me to say even though you guys mentioned you cook the eggs in the microwave, no butter, just for those who might not know.

I can't get any of mine to eat cottage cheese, I tried several times. I used the Walmart brand, what brand do you suggest?

I know that gliders are lactose intolerant, but that yogurt is okay. Is cottage cheese in that category too? Anything else? Is there a limit on how often these products should be given?

Milk separates into curds and whey (Little Miss Muffet!) The curds are cottage cheese; whey is the watery fluid you often see in it. Curds are made into yogurt and cheese. Most of the lactose stays in the whey; so yogurt, cheese and cottage cheese are very low in lactose while staying high in calcium and protein (and fat!). I'll give my little guys yogurt at least twice a week, sometimes three or occasionally four times. (They love strawberry, blackberry-pomegranate, and key lime pie.) I'll give them a few shreds of cheddar or colby cheese maybe once a month at most. They won't eat cottage cheese whatever kind I get, or however I fix it.

Never even thought of cottage cheese! What an awesome idea! I can't get Tazz to eat eggs otherwise and maybe this will help....
