So last night I noticed one of my males had his genitalia out. I knew it was common for this to happen so I didn't worry too much. 3 hours later his genitalia was still out. Not all the way but partially. I went and got ky jelly to apply to keep it moist because it was not going in. During play time tht night, his genitalia was all the way in so I just figured he was dealing with him becoming mature. This morning I went to check on him and his genitalia is back out! I have been applying ky every couple hours and I have a vet appt tomorrow. But I was wondering if there is anything else I can do for him? He is eating and drinking fine and pooping is normal. but one of my concerns in a rectal prolapse. . Is it possible he could have that? What does that look like? What are the symptomes? Please help!

He is most likely just frisky.

yeah I freaked out about it just as much as you did at first xD but like you said he is just sexually maturing. My little guy is going throught this stage still and that happens with him all the time and I leave it alone and later during the night his genitals will be put away. Its natural. I mean unless its a diff color and looks dark then it might be stuck. otherwise I wouldn't worry about it xP

How old is he?
They do go through a phase of "self-discovery" where they are pretty much constantly playing with it.
In my experience, for male gliders that starts at around 3 months and lasts .... well, I'll let you know when one of mine stops.

He is about 3 months old. And of course I freaked out and took them to the vet tonight instead! The vet said exactly what you guys did (: oh well. Better safe than sorry

LOL Maybe this didn't freak me out so much because i'd already raised several male humans and any number of male critters? Sorry it got you so worried!

do however be observant - if he seems unable to fully retract it, part stays out all the time, that may require a vet's attention. Keep some plain KY Jelly in your glider first aide kit to put on his genitalia if he does not retract it fully. If that does not work, a vet trip would be necessary. The KY will prevent it from drying out and causing permanent injury.
