I have to separate Gypsy from the boys maybe at least for the day. She's been a jerk lately and I noticed after a scuffle Omi had blood on his tail. She bit him on his tail. Anyone who knows me knows that is not acceptable. You don't go around biting my g-babies no matter what. So, what could be her problem?

Lyndia, these boys don't like getting near her. If she's PMSing, she needs to hurry up and start her period because she's been like this for a while. She didn't want him in 'her' pouch. I'm thinking she probably is in heat. I did separate them for the night. We'll see how she acts tomorrow. Honestly, I don't have any patience to deal with this right now so she better straighten up and fly right.

I hate to say it but maybe she's just feeling a bit out numbered and insecure. I say that because I know I read a post a long time ago where someone had a similar issue and when she got another glider to kind of even things out...the one that was all uptight settled down.

I don't know but I hope she calms down. I'm sure it's no picnic for her to feel so on edge either.

Do you have 1 pouch per glider?

How long has she been like this? 4 days of PMS for Catwoman & she and Batman finally "did the deed" last night--toward the end of tent time, I might add! Boy, did I have to rush them to their cage because I did not want to end up sleeping all night in a pee and poo, mealie skin encrusted, dead cricket parts littered tent!

And then all night long they were crabbing at each other. Ran in a panic to go see what was the matter and then they look up at me like, "What, mom? Did you hear something? It wasn't us." Rinse, wash, repeat.

I am dead tired now!

Oh, sorry...going off on a tangent.

Has she been with either of the boys before?

Maybe getting another girl so she won't feel outnumbered?

Poor Omi...

I second the other pouch but you might want to separate OMI because Kai might over groom and make it worse. Do you have quickderm that stuff works wonders! http://www.thegliderinitiative.org/tgistore.htm you can buy it seperatly or in a kit. Not sure if you get a store near you but I bet you could.

If you have a female in the cage there should be a pouch for every glider. Her wanting her own pouch means that she is likely in heat and either needs or wants to be alone whether it is for emotional or physical reasons she and all your gliders should have places to sleep separate from each other.

It is not her fault. She should have a place to escape and it does not matter if your boys are nuetered they will still fulfill their urges... Female gliders have a monthly cycle lasting about 4 days give or take, during this time they will be much more vocal, defensive/aggressive, and reclusive. It is normal and this injury probably happened because Omi was very pestering or there was not enough sleeping pouches.

Well, shes got a whole cage to herself and nobody is complaining. Not true entirely, There were quite a few his/barks last night and when I shushed them, my birds shushed me. Never a dull moment here.quote]Originally posted by viciousencounters
