They love it! White meat, in water only. How often should the have it?

Honestly, I think canned anything has too many perservatives.
An alternative might be....
I get a whole bag of chicken drummies and just toss one or two into a pot of water and let it boil. It's much healthier and they love nawing on the bone, and IMO it's no harder than opening up a can, AND I can toss some veggies in. They soak up the "chicken water" and the gliders eat them more readily.

Personally I would suggest not to use canned chicken because of the preservatives used in canned items but that's just me, if your gliders love it great for them!

No, I'm not set on canned! Boiled is easy too! How often should they have a major protein like chicken?

Are you feeding a specific diet? I think most of the "recognized" diets have an "off night" like once a week....you could offer it then.
I personally don't feed a recognized diet so mine get a protein source every night. My go-tos' are chicken, ground turkey, eggs & shrimp.

I buy the chicken drumsticks, not the drummettes, mostly because it's cheaper but this thread has me wondering...what about the chicken in a sealed envelope that you can buy (usually found next to the canned tuna)? Is that safe?
Btw, I love the fact that you make them "chicken noodle soup", Lyndia. You're so awesome!

I would read the pkg. Rebecca... I know most of those are healthier as they don't contain the preservatives. If it's just steam locked or whatever they call it and sealed without the additives, I would think it's just fine.
And heck, it's nothing to toss in some veggies & noodles to that boiling pot, and they love it.

My breeder showed me her diet:
baby oatmeal mixed with a can of strawberry pediasure, glider booster and calcium powder. This lasts about a week, they each get a spoongull a night. I usually mix some honey in as well. Than a variety of fresh fruits and veggies, and the chicken- so chicken once a week then?

I don't recall seeing the HPW Original diet calling for an "off" night, so it's probably not one of those, right? I ask because I was wondering about maybe for a treat now & then to try a drumstick or the drummette (I think from wings?). But what would I serve with it to match the other needed nutrients? And would it be ok to serve with HPWt? I did throw a hard-boiled egg in there (well not threw it in, lol, it went in separate diner) along with the regular serving of HPW, I don't know if that was a good idea or not though, only did it once.
Would the canned chicken be good for like emergency or travel, or should just stick with baby food for that?

READ THE LABEL - on any packaged foods you plan to feed your gliders.
Most foods like canned chicken - even if it says packed in water - have other ingredients. Almost all processed foods contain salt - to accommodate human tastebuds. Usually there is a lot more salt in canned goods like chicken, canned vegetables, soups etc than even humans should eat daily.
Plain boiled chicken is a better choice for gliders than offering them the canned chicken which is probably loaded with salt.

Rather be safe than sorry. Any canned items, despite their labeling most likely has preservatives or as mentioned, an overabundance of stuff your glider does not need. Ditch the can and go for frozen unseasoned chicken.

It doesn't call for an "off" night but it's nice all the same. I wouldn't want to eat the same thing every night...would you? (Though I offer the HPW anyway, just in case they want it.)
