A tooth abscess is a collection of infected material (pus) resulting from a
bacterial infection in the center of a tooth. It presents as a swollen area of
the upper or lower jaw and is severely painful. In a sugar glider it will
commonly bulge the eye out as there is no other place for the abscess to grow.
Immediate treatment is needed to drain the abscess and medicate with
antibiotics in order to prevent life threatening complications.
