Cloaca

cloaca (kləʊˈeɪkə)

—n , pl -cae
1. a cavity in the pelvic region of most vertebrates, except higher mammals, and certain invertebrates, into which the alimentary canal and the genital and urinary ducts open
2. a sewer

The cloaca is the only posterior opening on sugar gliders of either sex that serves the intestinal, urinary and reproductive systems.

Here is a photo of an inflamed female cloaca which could be a normal symptom of estrus (heat) or could also suggest a deeper health issue that needs addressing.
