I can't help but Worry.

Nov 16, 2009

 I can't help but Worry.

The girl at my school that I have English with has a 5 or 6 year old glider that has seizures when she's taken out of her cage. She's eating baby food, fruits and veggies, along with "other unhealthy stuff." She's a single glider that basically NEVER gets to come out of her cage.

I was hoping to be able to rescue her. My mom agreed to let me, but after a week of anticipation, her mom said no. Because she liked her too much. How selfish can humans be?! "Oh, let's keep her around because I like her, even though she's not getting proper care!"

I've given her the name of my vet. I offered her glider a loving home! Yet they're going to keep her in those conditions and not take her to see a vet for her SEIZURES? How selfish is that?! It's neglect. No matter how you put it. That's animal abuse.

I'm at a loss as to what I can do. Call the ASPCA, but not sure what they'd do with her. I'd love to adopt her. I've tried it once. The vet bills would probably hurt, but it'd be worth it. I would do just about anything for money to get her some very much needed help! Plus Christmas is coming up. With CareCredit, I could pay it off slowly until I either sell a bunch of photos and drawings and get Christmas money! UGH.

I wish I could help this glider. I look at my gliders and think about little Sugar, alone in her cage, watching her people pass by her day in and day out.

You really should take some form of action. You mentioned the ASPCA. I recommend you call them for advice at the very least. You won't know what they would do until you inquire. Also, I don't know where you are in the nation, but most urban settings have animal neglect/animal rights organizations that have means to step in. Somehow, please, take action to save the glider, even if you don't get to adopt her.
