I started looking into taking my sugar gliders with me overseas also. Right now, that is only a remote chance, but I have learned some things which might be useful...
First off, we already know that if you get caught it is much more serious bringing them into a country than traveling within the country.
Second, security measures are greater, especially since Iraq was bombed.
If you want to know the consequences of bringing an animal into a country, call the consulate. Gaining the permission of the consulate is too late for the holidays. Also, this usually results in a lengthy quarantine period.
Bringing them into the United States without proof they came from the US is looking for trouble. If you don't declare them, it is a fine if you get caught and your animal is confiscated. Second, if you do declare, they may be put in quarantine. You have to have some sort of permanent mark on them and a health certificate from within the US for travel which will specifically refer to each animal by their marking/tag to possibly get past the quarantine.
Good luck...I'm still in the process of getting information for potential personal use...let me know if you find anything more. You can look at

also you might want to look at United Airline's site:
