We had a pair of females that grew up together but lost one. I'm really worried about the other one getting lonely. I see one of two options. Give up my second glider to a new home or bring in a new glider. Does anyone have experience bringing babies home to an adult? I don't want the babies hurt but I don't want to give up my other glider. How well do adults bond? Any experiences or advice please?

many sites have an introduction procedure. it is a good idea to read and try to
follow as closely as possible, some points are important.
a small and large glider introduction can be more difficult, a fight could go
one way very quick and bad. they suggest gliders closer to the same size.
I will say that almost all of our intros have gone great. usually most gliders
want to be with more gliders. but sometimes gliders will reject the new glider, and
then you have two gliders in two cages.

we have 6 gliders one male is the alpha, he had taken introductions and new
gliders in the past, but I rescued two gliders and after a long scent training gus
would only fight the two new gliders, he wanted NOTHING to do with additions anymore. so I had to rehome the gliders once I got them fat and happy.

You could get another adult sugar glider but you would have to have them in different cages near each other so they get used to each other's scent and can see each other, but not too close where they can hurt each other through the bars if they end up fighting! After a few weeks you can slowly introduce them to each other in an area where neither will become protective of their environment and see what happens. I lost one of my gliders in February of this year and my one sugar glider has been doing fine by herself. Her sleeping habits changed to her own (the other glider was always the first to wake up making my other glider wake up too). It's not recommend to keep a sugar glider by themselves because they could get depressed, but it is always an option based on your preference. You would just need to keep a closer eye on your glider and interact with her more often.
