Yes, I am home now. I have hired someone to check the area with a bloodhound...but it was so cold that day that I don't hold much hope of finding her unless someone picked her up. I don't think my mother looked for her enough...leaving Chewy with her was a very bad decision.
I will keep you all posted.
Thanks, Leia

: Thank you for that information Leia, that is probably a lot less hasle for your glider but more for you. Were there trees nearby, has your mother spent hours just being there looking for her. That circumstance would be a good candidate for posters and generally asking lots of passerbys. I agree about the time it takes, but I believe the lesson here is taht sometimes you have to understand that there are places you cant take gliders and if you do you need to be 100 vigilant. I personally am paranoid and my gliders have only gone otside my house a handful of times and each time safely zipped in a pouch. Can you get home to search for her?
: : I would agree except that Chewy was lost OUTSIDE the museum...on a bench in front. There is a small chance she went into the museum, but they have been notified. The real lesson here is not to get a glider unless you can take care of it all the time. Non-owners don't understand the time and devotion it takes, and will not take care of your pet as you would.

: : : Your situation is very sad, both for yourself and for all glider owners. I feel for your loss but feel you personally must call the museum and explain the situation and explain they may have a loose animal in their museum. They will probably set traps and I will not be surprised if these are lethal ones, this is if the museum already doesn’t have such traps. Forget your pet there is priceless art in that place that your pet could do millions of dollars worth of damage too. you are liable for this damage as I can not believe any museum has a policy of allowing any pets in. Your Mom has a lot to answer for both to you and to the general public which owns the art in the museum. this is not a public interest story you deserve to be vilified valuable art has been put at risk because of lack of foresight. We all love our gliders but have to remember that these are animals and other people do not necessarily feel the love for them we do. Taking gliders to places where pets are not welcome is risky and unwise. We may love them but they are still animals. And unfortunately in many eyes glider=vermin.
: : : : first off, i am very sorry. i can empathasize. i know how i feel when i am seperated from Java )i( much less if he could be gone for ever. i truly hope you do find chewy. second, if someone picked up the sock and found the animal, they may not have known what it was ans may have taken it to the local animal shelter. try calling. it can't hurt, and you will feel better knowing that you tried everything.
: : : : second, since it is an exotic pet, contact your local t.v. stations, ask them if they have ever heard of a sugar glider, then they will be interested. because it is so unusual they can use it to boost viewers and you can use them to find chewy, plus with it being public, that may put pressure on the museum to help you find chewy. of course, they may ban gliders from the museum, but that is alright. you could have your baby back. good luck. blessed be
