A good way to determine whether or not your glider is obese is to evaluate your glider's diet. Do you feed it lots of nuts? What about other fatty foods? If you can honestly say that you feed your glider a non-fat, healthy diet, then your glider probably isn't fat.

Unfortunatley, since sugar gliders are such small creatures, it is difficult to detect a pregnancy. Usually you are unaware of it until there are joeys in the pouch. Even then it is sometimes difficult.

My advice is to put off the surgery until you see to peanut-sized lumps in your female's pouch.

Also, be sure to give her lots of calcium (Rep-Cal Calcium -- pink container) and protein (crickets or chicken), if you suspect that she is pregnant.

Good luck!
