That is odd, they should get along fine. I've never heard of a female and male not getting along (Even if the male is neutered) try seperating them for a period of time then reintroducing them if they appear to be fighting. Sometimes they will make lots of noise when they are playing too. The only other thought I have on this is that the male wasn't neutered properly and is trying to mate with the female, and in that case after she gets older they should get along better.
