: Hi. I have had my glider, Flicker, for about a week now and I have a couple of questions.
: First off, The lady we bought Flicker from said he was about 8 weeks old. I have done quite a bit of research on gliders and from what I have read, it seems that most babies are not as afraid and are more curious than older gliders.
: Flicker is not like this at all. During this first week, I have tried letting him get used to his surroundings, I slept with his a pouch and put it in his cage so he would be used to my scent, I have spent time talking to him and being around his cage so he could become more comfortable with my presence
: and I have also tried enticing him by hand feeding him treats.
: Flicker has reacted very poorly to all of these things. He crabs whenever I am near the cage.
: At one point in time I had made an attempt to offer him a treat and he started to crab and even lunge in defense.
: His behavior at times is borderline vicious.
: I try to spend time with him but whenever I am near the cage he freezes up and then runs into his pouch to hide.
: At this point in time, touching him or even handing him a treat is virtually impossible.

: Is this "normal" behavior? What can I do to tame him?

all gliders have different personalities....some are more difficult to bond with than others. Patience and persistance are virtues when it comes to bonding...
there are some great bonding tips that may help you here:
