My new baby acted like this the first couple of days -- here's what I did that worked like a charm...get your baby out around 6 or 7 p.m. -- still sleep time for the baby -- and sit very quietly with the glider held in a half open hand (don't cover it up all the way). Then ignore it. When it realizes you aren't going to react to the crabbing, it will go back to sleep, and will soon become used to your scent and begin to relax. I had mine climbing all over me after one night of this (after two rough days where she didn't like me anywhere near her!). It's really important that you not react to the crabbing or lunging in a negative way -- be very calm, move slowly, and don't jump if it tries to scratch or bite (they really can't hurt your hand when they're little). Oh, and when your baby starts climbing on you, it may jump on your face -- try not to be startled, they are just looking for higher ground!
