Two gliders aren't necessarily better than one. Unless you can give two ALOT of attention in order for the bonding process to take place, then all you will end up with is two crabbie gliders that want nothing to do with you.
You still have the vet expenses, only now they are doubled.
So we're back to that issue.
Your mom doesn't want a rat and I can understand that. I felt the same way until I literally rescued Nixon as a baby.
I was never able to get past the tail before Nixon.
How about a parakeet. I have one of those too who talks and loves to sit on the end of a pen when I'm writing or just on my shoulder. They are also relatively low maintenance pets.
If she says no to a bird, then try to think of a pet that is NOT an exotic. They tend to be high maintenance and usually need ALOT of attention.
