Thank you Jane for all the advice. It is very helpful.
A bit less than an inch is lost. I don't know if it is hotter than it should be. The very tip (perpendicular to the length of the tail) is white with a red dot in the middle. The first 1/4 inch at the tip of the tail is nearly bare and the skin is black. It seems to go on quite dark under the hair after this but it's hard to say. She looks quite healthy in her behavior. Lilou and Pipa got a bigger cage two days ago and seem quite excited about it. They are both quite active.
I'm trying to go to a new (more knowledgeable hopefully) vet today.
