Sadly I only know of one glider rescue and that is in Texas..I hope someone else may know of one closer to you..but I don't In my experience of reading the clssifieds online and in my newspaper here is the deal. Even people who negelect their sugar gliders expect money from them. We often see people post I don't have the time for my glider...I never let them out to play....they always bite me..etc. And then they want 100 dollars for them. Some may say I love my gldiers, but Im moving and must sell them..seelignt o a good home for 150..etc. I have not saying their is anything wrong or right with this. I am simply letting you know that most people will never give away their gliders. They are expensive pets, and even when people negelct or abuse them they still expect to get money for them. On occasion people will give them away for free...but it seems to be rather rare. I think you will have a very hard time finding a shelter because of this reason. As long as the dogs are not in the room with the glider while the glider is out you should have no problems. Although i have seen a few people post that their dogs knocked over their cages..so you may wnat to tottaly keep them out of the room the cage is in. Gliders can get scarred if they smell other animals..so it may take your glider longer to adjust.

Bourbon has a excellent webpage for new owners..and wannabe owners. Please read all of it! Its the best thing you can do for yourself. Make sure you have everything all ready...vet..diet..cage...bonding pouches..glider proof room..etc. before you ever go buy the glider. Some of these things can be rather hard like a vet or good diet..so you really must be prepared before buying the animal. Then find a good breeder (if you cant resuce one) visit the glider a few times before you purchase so that they can get used to your smell...and so that you can see if you get along with the glider. Good luck to you. Keep reaserching. Information changes almost daily. A lot of information is outdated. Make sure if you read a webpage find out how ofl the info is. Also the most recent book was written in 1996..so a lot of that information is outdated also. many people will do tons of reaserch yet that reaserch is otudated. It can only harm your glider to use old info..so keep up to date.
