I have used pine in the past in a pinch with no problems. I prefer Carefresh, but I've been told that Aspen is good too. Do not use corncob - it is not absorbant, grows mold if it gets wet and will cause intestinal blockages if eaten.

: Cedar, and I think pine too, gives off vapors that can cause respiratory problems. I think I also heard that they cause liver disease over the long haul. It is illegal to use it as small animal bedding in at least one state for this reason. Try switching to aspen or corncob.
