: p.s. I don't have it yet, so any specifics on male or female would be great!

The best thing to do is READ, READ, READ. and not just this web site. There are several books, lots of web sites and you need a vet. that can take care of them. Just do a lot of reaserch, are you sure you won't get board with one in a couple of years? They live a long time, and thier not like a hamster that you just throw food in the cage now and then. This is a every day demanding animal. You have to spend hours everyday with them. I've had mine for over 5 years now, and I'm very devoted to them, but I'm settled in my life style so I have time for them every night. These are the most important things I can tell you to think about. Yes, they are cute, and Yes you want one. I understand. But will you be there? be totally honest, look at all of the 4 sale ads on the web sites of people who no longer have the time for them, that they deserve. Don't take me wrong I'm not telling not to get one. I'm just stating that they are a life time commitment. (or at least 12 15 years)
