you mean I have to have gliders?? just kidding... lets put it this way.. I have steadily research gliders, their diets and their behaviors in captivity for a few plus years.. All you have to do is research, sort the good from the bad info, sort the old from the new info, and don't be afraid to ask people who have also researched loads of questions. Also you can't be afraid to listen to them and their insights as well. Find out the experience levels of each person.. as you research, you will begin to see the differences...Also don't be quick to accept what only one person says as gospel.. What I mean by this is..
many of us veterns don't agree on everything, but there are things we do all agree on. We all have different views, opinions, etc.. and we base those on our own personal experience and the experiences of others.
The diets issues alone are not only controversial, but confusing as well.. the leading cause of death amoung gliders is an improper diet plan. I can tell you, that I have very sweet, bonded gliders, that are happy and healthy. I can also tell you that I work with biting gliders, and when I mean biting, a few know what we mean by pit bull biters. I see life from the eyes of a glider, I feel what they feel, and sense what they sense, and vice versa. But that is me.. I know of a few others that also do this, as well as a few that are learning.. It is up to the researcher to sort through and find out what to believe and what not to. There are a few phrases many of us live by..
1. Cynthia's... Go for the good of the glider
2. If ever in doubt... DON'T
3. If something don't feel right.. It ISN'T
4. Follow your heart
5. Look at life as if you were your glider..
while researching and going through the various message bases, read each post as if you were the one making it.
ALSO keep in mind at all times on the bases, who ever is answering the post has the best interest of the glider in mind.
Under no circumstances, jump on the defense or read it as if they will be jumping on you. Too many times the intention and the preception is confused, and very good information is misconstrued because someone read it out of context. The people are ALL on the bases, because they want the best for the gliders. April, I wish you luck, and may the gliders love float with you on your endevour...
