I think of a shared house like an apartment. With 8 chinchillas and 7 gliders even if I wanted roommates who would take me. Luckily my husband is tolerant. I totally think that the owner takes ultimate repsonsibility. Accidents are just exposed problems. But I know I still grieve over an accident I had with my first chinchilla. but I was to blame and even now 6 years later I blame myself and realize my culpability. It is very brave to expose yourself here but in reality you must also realize your role in the tragedy. So please people no more stories of pets killing gliders, malnutrition, toilet drownings, leaving pets unattended or such like. We are all feeling your losses too. Please everyone learn by looking around your home and acting now to stop that tragedy. (Hard luck guys those sponges are going to be attached to toilets ASAP!)

: : I think I have said in the past that gliders are not pets if you are sharing an apartment. At that point you have room mate concerns. Does the roommate leave the toilet seat up, will they complain if the cage smells. Will they have to be in your room keeping you up all night. In that circumstance I would say gliders are not apartment life style pets. And I still say that so let the disagreements start........:-)
: : : : : Is this true. Does this mean If i live in an apartment I shouldnt have a glider?

: : : I have seen it on several websites. One was the one they were talking about a few threads down.. but ive also seen it on a few others. I will find the sources and post them for you so u can see it.

: Jane, I agree with you to an extent. What about a house that is shared? With a roommate or spouse? We have seen several gliders die within the past few days,NOT because of roommates but because of the owners. I think awareness of safety and the supervision of gliders are the primary concern. I know what you are saying about shared dwellings, but it is up the the glider OWNER to see that thier glider is safe and supervised.
