Okay, where was i? I think I sent that too soon..

But I do not think any high priced animals should be given away for free. People will pick these animals up purely for profit and people who pick them up for profit are not nesecarily going to be knowledged handlers or be treating them well. It is one thing to give it away once you have gotten a positive response from a prospective owner but to publically annonce that you are giving it away can lead to trouble! I don't know if my last post went through, but I know that horses that are advertised as being given away are often picked up by slaughter houses or people selling to slaugher houses 'cause they know they can make money of it them. People also look for free parrots because they know they can turn a profit off of them.

People who pick up free pets, while they may not always be doing it for profit, aren't always going to be responsible owners..let's face it, generally people will take care of something if they had to put down alot of money for it, if it is valuble to it. And people tend to research big purchases more, they put more thought into the decision. If someone who was just kinda thinking it would be neat to have one saw that add they might say "what the heck, it's free" and go ahead and ask for them. Nothing lost if it doesn't work out.

Anyway, that is just my opinion on this. Like I said, I would have no problem giving an animal away once I had talked to the person inquiring, but I would never advertise that animal as being free. Her gliders could very well end up going to a good home, but I wouldn't risk it.
