I don't have any advice that will help solve this problem, but I too have a male approx. 1 1/2 yrs. who does the exact same thing. I have not been able to stop him from doing it at all. If I don't make him quite when he starts, he will do it long enough to draw blood.
I wish I had the answer for both of us. Maybe someone out there does. FYI: I have never given licky treats on my finger to this glider.
