In the wild, the youngsters are driven away from the family as they mature so incest doesn't happen. The youngsters eventually meet up and form their own mating/family group. In captivity, this doesn't happen so it is our job to be sure that they don't interbreed with parents/siblings.

: Has anyone heard something about an "incest-blockage" instinct that sugar gliders are supposed to have???
: I read something about this in a small info I got from the Sydney Zoo, but am not quite sure about this....It said that in the wild, gliders do not mate with their siblings/parents....
: Has anyone more info???
