Subject: Help! Eye Troubles: Anyone Else Ever Seen This??

A friend of mine has been boarding her sugar glider, George, with us. Tonight, George scared the heck out of us all. He'd been staying with my friend's mom for about 2 weeks. We picked him up yesterday (it would have been sooner, but her mom lives 40 miles away and my friend had been sick for a week) and put him back in his cage to let him rest since he'd been being moved around/stuck in a strange place/moved around again for 2 weeks.

Tonight I went into the basement and noticed that one of George's eyes was cloudy. It looked like it was covered in a white film. I called my friend down to look at him and when she pulled him out of the cage he chattered loudly and sounded healthy. When she looked at his eye, it looked as though it had turned around inside the socket. This scared my friend since she's seen the same thing happen in kittens, where it's usually fatal. We called the local vet emergency line, but unfortunately no vet in our area knows anything about gliders. We decided to have my friend take him out of his cage and let him play to see if he acted sick or not. Just a minute ago, my friend came up and said his eye was back to normal.

Now, while it may seem that our problem solved itself, what I'm wanting to know is if this has happened to anyone else and if so, what did you do? Did it require a vet's attention? Did the glider live through it? In other words, how worried should we be? Please, if you know anything about this, write me at kathepulver@hotmail.com as soon as you can.

Thank you in advance, Kathy

PS: Sorry for double posting this, I found the storybook first...boy is my face red...
