We have a small pampered pooch, a cat, hamster and sugar glider. Our cat and dog are both very curious about Petri(our glider). I would like to think that they would know better than to hurt each other, but I am not convinced this is so. When we first got Petri I opened his cage and he hopped out onto me then onto the cats back who just happened to be near. It was really fast and startled me and the cat. The cat was good, but I got him off right away. I have since decided to not let the glider out with the cat around,(she looks at him like a little happy meal). I really think unless your cats are unusually docile, it would be best to play with your glider separately. The only downfall to owning a glider is that they are nocturnal. Sometimes mine wakes me up with noises at 3 or 4 in the morning. They also require a diet of fresh foods nightly, and they need socialization. They aren't the type of pet you should get without alot of thought, but I love my little guy. He has been with us over a year now, and has alot of personality. Also, they are known to live between 10 and 18 years, so there is a bit of a commitment to think about.
