: Hello,I am a soon to be owner and breeder. I have done a great deal of research on sugar gliders and have bought every book on them. But, before I purchase my first pair I want to get some other breeders' insight on them. I want to have everything ready for when I bring them home. So here are my questions. Please feel free to post replies, or email me . My another email is ROCKHOLD@CLINTON-FAMNET.COM .I will reply to all who answers my message. My appreciation go out to all who get some insight on my questions.

: 1) When you are purchasing what did you look for??
Well I did not pick my glider I let him pick me. With the other Cookie I found a very reputable breeder going the second time around. I still have both gliders and they are both little angels. Look for cleanliness, Knowledge, Reputation, And you can tell if a glider is unhealthy ir stressed by looking at them sometimes. Also find out if there are any guarantees with your glider. Also find out if they are USDA certified
: 2) Do you use a vinyl coated cage, if so why??
I use vinyl coated cages. They are easier to clean and yes not as hard on a gliders feet as regular galvenized wire. I have 1 pair to a 4 ft x 3 x3 (I think) I only recommend putting one breeder pair to one cage. Another male or female besides the parents can or will eat your joeys.
: 3) What size do I need to provide room for more then one pair ??

: 4) What do you use for a nesting box??
I use a pouch. They are washable and gliders are not as territorial about a pouch toward you as they are a nest box. Plus you can carry the pouch around with you if you like while bonding.
: 5) What kind of bedding do you use??
I hang a t shirt that I wore that day in the cage every night where they always have a fresh scent of me in there. I have heard of people putting kleenex in the cage for nesting but I only have a pouch and the t shirt in there for them to sleep in but I also put a washcloth in the pouch for extra warmth
: 6) What is the best diet for them??
Well If you have read any of the back archives you will see that we all have been trying to figure that one out. How much of this how much of that and I find it a little complicated at times just doing or trying to figure. I personally use leadbeaders recipe, fruits, veggies, mealworms and/or crickets
: Thank you ,
: Shunte
